Burkhard Driest (1939-2020) was a German actor, director, screenwriter and author. He started his acting career in the 1960s, starring in numerous films and TV shows throughout the years. He is perhaps best known for his role in the 1979 film "The Tin Drum" directed by Volker Schlöndorff.
Driest was also a prolific writer, publishing several books including autobiographical works such as "My Dearest Enemy" and "The Rape of Europa". He was a controversial figure in Germany, due to his affiliation with far-right and neo-Nazi groups in the past.
Driest passed away in 2020 at the age of 81.
